We’ve already seen Samsung Corby Speed CDMA that can browse the web faster than the traditional CDMA phones and now Samsung has gone a step further and introduces, Samsung Corby TV (addition of TV feature to Speed CDMA), a device that can stream live TV.
Watching live TV on mobile is not something that is new. We’ve seen that in the case of Airtel Mobile TV and also few technologies such as Mundu mobile that try to stream live TV on GPRS network by compressing the video without compromising on the quality.
Samsung Corby TV tariff
Corby TV works in the EVDO environment that can virtually give you a buffer less live TV experience. In places where EVDO doesn’t exist, you will shift to 1x CDMA network where you have to obviously see more buffering than the actual video.
Both Tata Photon and Reliance CDMA already have an extensive EVDO network in India and those are the two operators that bring you the live TV experience to Corby TV.
If you are a Tata Indicom customer, you get 3 months of free TV subscription and 15GB of free data each month for 2 months for Post paid customers (10GB of free data each month for prepaid customers). Which gives you 150 hours of live TV each month for 2 months for post paid customers and 100 hours of live TV for 2 months in case of Prepaid customers.
And if you are a Reliance CDMA customer, you get 2 months of free TV subscription and 15GB of free data for 2 months for post paid customers (10GB of free data for 1 month for prepaid customers). This gives you 15 hours of live TV each month for 2 months for post paid customers and 100 hours of Live TV for 1 month in case of prepaid customers.
Note that TV Subscription is different from Data rates. That is, after the free period ends, you’ll have to subscribe (purchase) to get TV access and also purchase a data plan to be able to access the TV content.
The TV subscription rates are not available yet.
There are nearly 50 channels on offer with popular channels such as CNBC TV18, ESPN, NDTV, Aaj Tak, Times Now, CN, CNN, Pogo, Star News, Zoom etc.
Users who currently have Samsung Corby Speed can upgrade to Samsung Corby TV for free by visiting any Samsung service center

i think samsung corby tv is the best phone in this price range, around 10 k.

150 hours of TV? Why can’t they introduce unlimited TV like unlimited browsing
150 hours = 5 hours/per day. That’s more than what I need, unless I absolutely have no work.
PS. This should not be considered as a replacement for your Cable TV, but just an additional feature to your mobile.
