Review of Nokia music store in India

Here’s an exclusive review of the Music Store of Nokia in India.

My friend purchased a 5800 Xpress music very recently for a discounted price of Rs.14000, may be a festival discount. Actually, low cost version of 5800 doesn’t have a TV out mode and doesn’t come with  the stand that can hold them 5800 Stylishly. But still, Rs.14000 is a very good price to catch hold of a 5800 and what’s more he also got a Sennheiser headset and a music voucher using which he could download 100 tracks of his choice from the Nokia Music store.

Since he isn’t a music buff like me, I managed to get his voucher and hence had look into the Music store of Nokia.

(Note that you don’t need a voucher to download the music store application. You only need it to download songs freely)

The download was done from the Nokia Music site.

The download and Installation were smooth and easy. It took a little longer for my laptop as it didn’t have few components required for the installation to be completed.

The music store experience

I clicked on the Music store shortcut icon on my desktop and was waiting to see the application look like. To my surprise, it didn’t open for nearly 1 minute. I re-clicked it and waited, this time a little lesser time. I closed it and then re-opened, this time it took about 20 seconds to open. So one has to say that the application is a bit bulky.

My 4GB RAM and Core 2 Duo processor should have been more than enough for it to open in just seconds.

Now the real store experience. If you are a Bollywood freak you got a big reason to rejoice. As I write this, I am simultaneously downloading tracks of London Dreams, Main aur Mrs.Khanna, Sonu’s chiggy wiggy and Sona’s Dil Jale.

What it means is that the tracks are instantly made available in the Store as they are released by the producers.

Thanks to my friend Kapil, I downloaded 58 tracks till now and still left with 42.

If you are looking for regional songs like Bengali, Tamil, Telugu or Kannada you are for a big disappointment. The tracks are age old and they must already been there in your collection.

The overall navigation inside the application is easy and quick. The transfer of songs from your Store to your mobile is a simple stuff of ‘Drag and drop’.

And now that the last track Chiggy wiggy in the download pipeline is complete, It’s time for me to take leave and have a look at those tracks.
