If you are looking to buy a tablet, here’s the cheapest one you can get at this time. The Tablet, called the Reliance 3G Tab, is custom manufactured by China’s ZTE Corporation for Reliance 3G network (locked). It is priced at Rs.12999, a couple of thousand rupees less than the previous lowest tablet, from Olive Telecom (OlivePad)
The tablet isn’t a high spec’d one like the one’s you see coming out these days, but for the price you are asked to pay, these specs should do it.
Working on Android Gingerbread (version 2.3), Reliance 3G Tab has a 7 inch LCD WVGA screen with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. The screen is capacitive and multi-touch enabled. It is powered by a single core 800 Mhz Qualcomm processor. A 512MB RAM and 4GB Phone memory (externally expandable up to 32GB) will make up memory part and a 2mp camera at the back and a basic VGA one at the front will make up the cameras on the Tab. It’s not such as thin tab but still weighs fairly less at 389 gms.
Other features include Wifi (with hotspot feature), Bluetooth (with Voice calling), GPS, FM Radio, SMS and MMS and mobile TV.
Of course, since this is based on Android platform, all those customary Android apps such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, Android Market etc are all there by default.
Data plans include an Rs.598 and Rs.789 monthly for 2 and 5GB Data for both prepaid and postpaid customers. If you’d like to pay for 1 year data in advance, you’d get some additional discount too.
