Nokia’s Ovi Music Unlimited is here for the first time in India and is expected to be a huge success; after all, it’s about free stuff. Initially the Ovi Music unlimited license will be given to 6 Music handsets namely, Nokia 5800 Xpress music, Nokia 5530, Nokia 5235, Nokia 5130, Nokia X2 and Nokia X6. You can activate your subscription either through PC using the Ovi Music Application or directly from you mobile (Nokia 5130 users will have to activate from PC only).
What about existing (compatible) handsets?
Unfortunately, you’ll not be able to get the Unlimited license for free. If you need, you have to purchase coupons from the Ovi music store. The logic behind this is to take the advantage of the up coming 3G network in India by coupling it with unlimited music to get those sales numbers go high.
With unlimited ovi music you can download any number of songs from millions of tracks present in the Ovi Music store and keep them with your for free, for ever. The free subscription period will generally be fore 1 year but depending on the store/country/phone it may also be up to 2 years.
As I said earlier in my review on the then Nokia Music store in India, if you are a Bollywood follower, new film tracks are added almost instantly as they are released. Music from Popular labels such as Yash raj music, Sony Music, Universal music, Warner music, EMI, T series, Venus, Saregama and Tips is available under this subscription period.
But if you are a regional film lower like Tollywood or Kollywood, you’ll struggle to find the latest albums (barring the latest music from unpopular labels) in the Ovi music store.

What does the free music mean? we need to download the songs through the mobile phone itself? If yes then the GPRS will charge for downloading right? And if downloading through internet whats the procedure? I mean are there any clauses or conditions apply etc.? Unlimited is really unlimited or some * at the end?

Although you can share the music with other Ovi Unlimited music phones, you cannot transfer it to other mobiles.
