We broke the news before about a dedicated gaming mobile from Micromax, and you saw first shots of it during the IPL opener and here is the complete review of the Micromax G4 (dubbed as the gaming revolution or Gamolution by Micromax). Let’s get straight to the point, it is a Dual Sim mobile (this is the base reason why Micromax exists in Mobile phones industry) and isn’t touch enabled. Now to the important part, it has a motion sensor that gives you a good (I didn’t say tremendous) gaming experience.
What does Motion sensor do?
Simple. Holding your phone upright, turn it towards left to turn your racing car towards left and towards right to turn you car to right while acceleration is set to automatic. Really, I’m hoping against the hope that this is the primary reason that the motion sensor in G4 is meant for. Like other phones if it just for changing those tracks, pictures (from portrait to landscape modes) etc, then it’s just useless.
Also, the screen is a mere 2.4 inch one. I always thought bigger screens (at least a 3 inch) produce better gaming experience. 2.4 inch screen is just a standard with any mobile and to me it’s like putting new wine into an old bottle.
Nevertheless, you get 4 motion sensor games pre installed with your G4 and a separate Games CD with further such games.
G4 has a camera that can also act as WEBCAM when connected to a PC using the USB cable that you’d get along with the pack.
Micromax G4 features
Apart from the gaming part of the mobile, everything else is the usual yada yada. It has Bluetooth (you also get a Bluetooth dongle with the pack to transfer files between your mobile and your PC), a music and video player, a wap browser (GRPS class12 with a max speed of 14.4 KBps), can store 500 contacts and 200 sms in its phone memory, external memory is expandable up to 4 GB (MicroSD, that’s really good). Predicted talk time is up to 5 hours with a stand by time of 8 days.
Should you Buy it?
If you really are such a Game(aholic), give it a try. While I recommend to wait for a little longer till the next versions come out (and possibly with a larger screen). Your alternate options could be to go for the higher end Xpress music series of phones from Nokia (like 5800, 5530 or even 5230) that can give you a better motion sensor gaming experience (and of course with a huge 3.2 inch screen) any day.

As I said, if you are a serious gamer you can give G4 a try.
Actually, the Bluetooth dongle that you get with the pack is not just for transferring files, it can be setup to view and play the game on your PC by having controls on your mobile (Just move your phone accordingly)
