‘Save our Tigers’

by Sriraj on January 30, 2010

This is a post inspired by the new campaign launched by Aircel (In partnership with WWF India) to ‘Save our Tigers’.

Save our Tigers campaign by Aircel

Save our Tigers campaign by Aircel

It’s so sad to learn that the estimated number of Tigers currently in India count to just 1411. At the start of this century, the entire world has around 1 lakh Tigers with India alone having 40000 Tigers in the wild. Increase in population meant that people would fight for place to live against the wild and hence, the decrease in the number. Keeping aside the fact that hunting wild animals used to be a sport for the ‘Maharajas’.

If we at least don’t ACT now, our future generation may well put Tigers besides Dinosaurs’ and learn about them as extinguished animals.

What can you do?

There are various credible organizations working towards the conservations of Tigers in India. You can support them by donating the amount of your choice. Head over here to make a donation.

If you have a blog similar to this, you can write about the urgent importance that is required in this regard. If you have a social networking profile, update your statuses’ (or the likes..) to show your concern (every bit of word helps spread the message).

If you see or know any one in your village hurting Tigers, be it for any reason, educate them and if possible bring them to the law.

And finally, if your want to show your concern on tigers virtually, head over here to make a mark.

wildlife tigers are the beauty of nature we have to save them by getting existed as they are the part of our earths beauty. we live on their land and at their homes as they allow us to leave us to live on their land we should not kill them but should save their lives as they are only few left . if we kill someone ,someone will kill us . if we save someones life , someone will save our life , so stop killing wildlife and start saving wildlife

Each and every creature is important in the world as we so are the TIGERS.It’s the pride of our country and is now being killed.if the tigers could not speak we should understand them ,if they are not hurting us then why should we?

Tigers are very important creatures on this earth. Their role in the environment is very important. Unfortunately, tigers are now facing the problem of extinction. We need to solve this problem otherwise it is not only dangerous for the earth but also for us.

I congratulate Aircel for the “save the tiger” campaign,it is the need of the hour.Even the celebrities like MS Dhoni etc coming up on various TV channels & talking about the tiger is realy amazing…but the real story has a twist…I am from dist Sindhudurg, the southern most dist of konkan region along the west coast adjoining to Goa,here we have highly biodiversed jungles…enriched flora & fauna, extra ordinary nature.Since last few weeks a tigress & its cub have been spotted by many villagers in many villages in tehesil Sawantwadi & Dodamarg in my district, even in three villages the cattles have fallen prey to this tiger which is a stripped tiger (Panthera Tigris) but our ditrict forest department refuses to recognise it & put it officially on paper. They keep saying that it is leopard & not tiger,as if it is officially recognised as tiger, the entire zone becomes “Tiger reserve “forest, their responsibility increases multifold.
More over our maharashtra state govt wants to do iron ore mining in this naturally enriched region.A lot of mining giants from Goa ,after the rampent mining in eastern part of Goa they want to do mining in this lovely Sindhudurg.
Ideally to preserve the existence of tiger in this region the govt should declare this region as eco sensitive area so that no red category industries like mining can ever come here & this special kind of nature is spared.
Then & only then the numbers of tigers in India may grow from 1411 to 14111 in the next decades to come.Otherwise the monster of mining would eat up our national animal.
Dr Jayendra Parulekar.

Tigers are our national haritage-they ARE connected to india as much as we are.Without them india’s pride will get lost.Besides, they are animmals, they have the right to lead a life, every animal does. They are equqlly important in our life as are the trees. But it is we humans who are intent to go our own way without bothering to think twice about the perishing lives that have equal amount of right to live a peaceful life as much as we do given the fact that they, like us are God’s creation. But we dont give any importace to animals, trees and other aspects of nature as we dont consider them to have any standard in the society.Humans are the most cruel dwellers on this earth- nobody can deny the fact, today tigers are decreasing, tomorrow some other animal will, one day every animal on this earth will get extinct-as a result of our selfishness. We are taught to repair what we have damaged,so its time to act and not sit back with our hands folded and wetch them all die day by day.
I request you all, plzzzz, come forward and ACT.Every little bit helps.

what has project tiger done.
What has been the modus operandi..
Course of action and on what parameters the success is being measured.
The dwindling count of tigers from 20,000 speaks of the acclaimed success of project tiger, open your eyes..had projeect tiger been successful the number of tigers would have grown not lessened.
Of astonishment yes a quickie to fame, lauded for social reposibility.
The problem is of greed, not deforestation.

Are we talking about virtual tigers, have saved all the photographs available.
Tweet, facebook and what not. We can save tigers sitting in our sitting rooms.
Charity to save the tigers, is it the bidding amount offered to the poachers.
the whole propaganda is comical, cmmon man we have better things to laugh on, not the tiger,
one of the most majestic creatures.
human race is getting fatter and at the same time loosing its grey cells to fat,
first they say 1100 tigers left, and save tigers, wake up, what shit, are we killing the tigers,
but for sure the poachers are, and they attentively read these blogs, watch tv and read newspaper and tweet on tiger
conservation and will stop killing the tigers.
Who the hell cares about the tigers, addressing an issue is a quickie to fame and for already famous a pr gesture,
to potray social responsibility,
leave the tigers alone in their plight and dont try to encash on an endangered species. I am ashamed.
Instead of good, its doing harm, the poachers come to know just 1140 left, oh, get ready for the kill man.
They thank the TV and other media for the information and a new killing spree begins.
On my way to the Zoo to have the last glimpse of the king.

tiger is really very important part of our ecosystem after the launch of project tiger we have made great progress in this approach but we must again start some new programs to stop poaching and must create awareness among the common mass that forest are very essential for tiger’s survival so protect forest.
take a stand against the forest cutting and also against those people who are destroying our forest .

All we humans think of is reproducing ourselves and nothing else – the total population of human beings in the world is 6,800,700,000 as of today and still growing. I’m 100% sure that animals in this world are much lesser than this figure. So Save the Wild life and Our Forests they have the right to live on this planet as much as we do.
