Alexa displaying no data for your website?

March 16, 2010 by Sriraj · Leave a Comment

Alexa gave me a shocker today. Normally since few weeks my website has been ranking in range of 50k to 40k. But today when I visit Alexa to check my sites’ rank, it was truly a shocker. The ‘rank’ is nearly 240k and ‘reach’ being a mere 0.0007%.
I can see in my site stats that [...]

February 28, 2010 by Sriraj · Leave a Comment

I was struggling to get this right since a few days and now finally I’ve got it. I installed a local version of my wordpress blog using Microsoft IIS, but the default ugly permalinks have been haunting me. I couldn’t do any testing since all my blogs use pretty permalinks.
Since I use Apache web server [...]

What are web friendly fonts?

January 11, 2010 by Sriraj · Leave a Comment

I personally like the Lucida Grande font, but I went for a safer Arial font on this website Sriraj Digital Magazine, why? Simply because Lucida Grande may not always be present in the computers of my readers. Ever since Microsoft announced the core fonts for the web program Arial, Verdana and Georgia have become the [...]

January 5, 2010 by Sriraj · 2 Comments

What I noticed today when I went to the site stats section is that the Wordpress stats plugin is showing number of views the home page (without any link) of my blog received. Until now it was only showing the top posts and pages but adding home page definitely makes more sense. I also observe [...]

To create a category/sub-category drop down box, we just simply have to use the code that we use in the case of archives, of course making small adjustments.
Now assume that you want to make a dropdown archive of a category called ‘cars’ which has a category ID of say 18. You can place the following [...]

February 24, 2009 by Sriraj · 1 Comment

Last week I encountered a wordpress headers problem due to which I was unable to login to my admin page.
I looked for any white spaces in the affected file (wp-config.php) but found none. It was perfectly alright and just to make sure of it I even replaced that file with a fresh download.
The problem still [...]

Show different posts per page

February 20, 2009 by Sriraj · Leave a Comment

Setting your blog’s home page to show only excerpts of your posts looks good as it gives your visitors a hint about the topics of your blog. But there is a problem. I personally find it very irritating when I make a category or tag search and see only a limited number of posts (the [...]
