United bank of India, a premier public sector bank of India, invites applications from eligible candidates for the posts of probationary officers and specialist officers.
Number of vacancies
Probationary officer (post code: 01) – 900 vacancies and official language officer in JMGS scale I.
Age requirement
Minimum age of 21 and maximum age of 30.
Relaxation in age to backward classes applicable as per government rules.
Educational qualifications
Probationary officers:
The candidate must be A graduate or Post graduate in any discipline from the recognized University with a minimum mark of 55% in either Graduation or Post graduation. 5% relaxation available to candidates belonging to the SC / ST / OBC / PWD Category. Candidate must have successfully completed a computer course of at least 6 months’ duration from any Institute recognized by Central/State Govt. / AICTE.
Official language officer
Post Graduate Degree in Hindi and with English as a subject at Degree level or Post Graduate Degree in Sanskrit and with Hindi and English as subjects at Degree level.
No post qualification experience is required for above posts.
Selection procedure
Selection of candidates for Probationary officer will be made through a written test followed by and Interview. For official language officer, there will be a written test followed by either a PI or GD.

Candidate must draw a DD of Rs.400 from any scheduled commercial bank in favour of “United bank of India specialist officer/ Probationary officers recruitment Project – 2009 “, payable at Mumbai.
For SC/ST/PC the fee is Rs.50
Candidate’s name, date of birth, Address, Post Code & Registration Number should be written on the back of demand draft /bankers’ cheque.
Only online applications are encouraged. Candidate has to apply online following this link and when finished, candidates are advised to take the printout of the application form in an A4 size paper.
The following certificates must be attached along with the application form and DD
- Xerox copy of School leaving certificate in support of Date of Birth.
- Xerox copy of the Final convocation Degree certificate, certificates in respect of passing Graduate Degree and Post Graduate Degree (Provisional Certificate will be accepted only if the candidate has passed the relevant examination during the past one year i.e. 2008) or the university has not yet issued the convocation certificates .
- Year wise /semester-wise Mark sheets for the Graduate and Post Graduate degree or Professional Course.
- Medical Certificates in case of Physically Challenged candidates.
- SC/ST Caste certificate/OBC certificate with “Non-Creamy Layer Clause” (Not more than one year old)
The application must be sent only by an ordinary post to
Post Box No.7646, Malad (West), MUMBAI 400 064, in case of probationary officers and to Post Box No.27672, Malad (East), MUMBAI 400 097, in case of official language officer.
Last date for applying online is 27.04.2009 (including to those from far flung areas)
Last date for receipt of “Print out of the System Generated Applications” at the address given above by ordinary post on or before 04.05.2009.
For far flung areas the last date is 11.05.2009.

Hello Sir,
The website of United bank of india states that appointment of the PO (2011) has been dispatched to successful candidates. And this notice has been in the site for almost 10 days, but have not yet received the appointment letter.
Another link int he site mentions the date of joining as 25th of april 2011. So can i join without the appointment letter, if i don’t receive it due to any reason? What would the appointment letter be mentioning?

sir at the time of written test only the invigilator collected all candidate’s original fee receipts even it is not necessary.now i am not having even a copy of it .is it ok. I think they will have original pay receipt along with hall ticket at the time of interview

sir,i completed my degree in the year 2005.After verifying my degree certificates only i got admission in PG. And i completed my PG in 2007.After that i did B.Ed. from IGNOU in 2008 december. l only have CONVOCATION of B.Ed. Now kindly tel me whether am i eligible for interview for PO’s in union bank of india or not .And the next degree CONVOCATION wil be in april or may 2011.In this situation what i have to do? I think you applied for PO using your PG Degree? In such case you will be required to produce your convocation certificate since 2007 is way back to listen to any excuses.
If you have any strong reason for not applying for your convocation Degree till now, you should talk with the bank officials regarding that.
Generally the interview process happens over multiple days. On your day, before you appear for the interview, all your certificates will be checked by other bank personnel. Say if you’re interview is scheduled for 6 April, you may consider going to the venue before that day and talk with the persons who are checking the certificates.
sir, i got interview call for Probationary Officer in union bank of india. but i did not have my degree convocation certificate,will they allow me for attending interview?
If you’ve completed your Degree last year, you may be allowed. You have to show your Provisional, Sem wise and Final mark sheets though. If selected, then you’ll to produce the final convocation certificate.

I dont remember the date of exam but you should wait to receive the call letter till its 10 days to date of exam. If you din’t have it by then, you can visit the address mentioned in the advertisement to take duplicate call letter (Generally it will be the address of the local head office of your state)

If you are asked to send the documents along with the DD but you forget it, then forget your call letter for written exam.

If you’re applying for PO/specialist officer then the first one is correct as given in the advt.

Thanks Sriraj for your response but I think you did not get what i was asking…..my question was “as bank officials are asking for Graduation plus 6-months basic computer course”…I have done 6-months course during my MBA as a subject…..why can’t I claim eligibility as “computer course” is separate from My graduation degree…..and even after this if I am not eligible then why should I go for separate course of Computers when I am having MBA degree approved by AICTEE so all its syllabus is approved by AICTEE…….kindly guide me as i got confused in this confusing jargon…..Thanks!.

As far as my interpretation goes seeing the advt, you need a separate 6 months computer course along with a degree.
I have been seeing other bank recruitment advt’s from long time and if you have seen the recent SBI advt, it clearly mentioned that candidates need to have a computer knowledge certificate or a ‘computer’ subject in their degree (Which is your case now). But there is no such statement in United bank advt. So you better confirm with a person working in UBI or better call or email them (Visit their website to find these) and if you managed to find any details, please put it here as there are many others similar to you.

Prashant, why don’t you read the post completely. It clearly says, you need to have a bachelors degree by 01.01.2009 to be eligible.

You need to have 60% marks in your latest degree (UG or PG) and also you need to have those qualifications by 01.01.2009. You know where I’m heading….

Hi Sriraj, You mentioned “You need a 6 month course certificate”. Is it compulsory to have a 6 month computer course & a certificate of its completion? Is it not possible to do that course after getting selected & joining. Usually company will give a grace period of 6 month after joining to complete such misc course. is n’t it?
If we go by what is mentioned in the advt, yes it is mandatory.

Some banks even accept a computer subject at bachelors degree and some banks allow us to have a computers subject within 6 months of Joining the bank, if selected. But unfortunately, there is no option here in United bank of India, atleast as I can interpret the advt.
So you should surely have a certificate in computers from an institute to be eligible.
