RRB recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilots

Railway Recruitment Boards of different zones (18 in number), under Ministry of Railways invites applications from eligible Indian citizens for the posts of Assistant Loco Pilot (Centralized employment notice No. 01/2010)

Total number of vacancies is tentatively declared as 15355.

They are split among different Zones as follow:

Note: The first column is the zone or the name of the RRB, second is the code of the RRB, third is the number vacancies in each RRB that are un reserved, next follows vacancies reserved for SC’s, ST’s, OBC’s, then total number of vacancies and vacancies reserved for Ex-Servicemen.

Pay Scale

The salary scale applicable for a Assistant Loco Pilot grade employee is Rs.5200 – 20200 with a grade pay of Rs.1900.

Age requirement

Applicants must fall in the age group of 18 to 30 years as on 01.07.2010.

The Upper age limit can be extended by 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST candidates. For ex servicemen, the upper age can be extended up to the extent of service in defence plus 3 years provided they’ve put in a minimum of 6 months of service.

Candidates should also have A-1 grade medical standard.

Educational Qualifications

Applicants should have passed class 10 or its equivalent in a 10+2 system and must possess a course completed Act or Apprentice/ITI in any of the following trades recognized by SCVT/NCVT:

Fitter, Electrician, Instrument mechanic, Mill Wright/maintenance mechanic, Electronics mechanic, Mechanic Radio/TV, Mechanic motor vehicle, Wireman, Armature/Coil winder, Tractor Mechanic, Turner, Heat Engine, Mechanic diesel, Machinist, Refrigeration and AC Mechanic OR

Must have a diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics/Automobile Engineering from a recognized Institute.

Candidates with higher qualification such as an Engineering Degree in above streams are also eligible.

Examination fee

Applicants must pay a exam fee of Rs.40 (No fee for women/SC/ST/Ex servicemen/Muslims/Christians/Sikhs/Buddhists/Zoroastrians’ and candidates whose total family incomes is less than Rs.50000 per year. The fee must be paid in the form of a DD or postal order taken in favour of ‘Member secretary/secretary/assistant secretary of concerned RRB’.

For example ‘Member secretary/secretary/assistant secretary of RRB Secunderabad’.

How to apply

Eligible candidates must completely fill the applications forms (link given below) and put their photo at the required place, sign, put their thumb impression at appropriate places and must send the forms in an envelop to the address of concerned RRB Secretaries.

The envelop should be superscribed ‘Application for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot Category No. 01 Centralized employment notice No.01/2010 and your community’.

Along with the application form, one must send DD, one photo stitched to the application, self attested copy of class 10 for proof of Date of birth, Self attested copy of professional qualification certificate, Candidates claiming age relaxations should produce necessary certificates, Medical certificates from eye specialist issued not more than 3 months before, certificates from competent authority in case of candidates of SC/ST/OBC community.

Last date to receive applications is 2 March 2010. For candidates residing in far flung areas, the last date is 17 March 2010.
