NHFDC, National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation, that oversees the overall well being of persons with disabilities, functioning under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment invites applications from disabled students pursuing technical, graduate, post graduate professional courses for award of scholarships.
Depending on the course, there are two types of scholarships on offers:
One is a Scholarship scheme from trust fund (1000 in number) given to those pursuing UG and PG level Professional and Technical courses in India. Combining all monetary benefits, a UG student will get Rs.2500 per month plus Rs.6000 per year (for stationary), while a PG student will get Rs.3000 per month and Rs.10000 per year for stationary.
Students with hearing and visual disabilities will also get support for getting aiding appliances.
One can get above benefits provided his/her family doesn’t earn more than Rs.25000 per month.
Students can apply at any time in the academic year to get this benefit (note that only 1000 scholarships exist)
The second scholarship scheme is from the National Fund (500 in number) given to post-metric, higher academic professional and technical courses.
Parent’s income should not exceed Rs.15000 per month and students are required to apply before 31 August 2011.
While you can apply online for Scholarship under Trust Fund, you have to send application form with required documents to get scholarship under National Fund.
