It’s shocking to see a recent report that there are nearly 33 thousand vacancies in Apsrtc that needs to be filled but the Government is reluctant in doing so citing financial situation. It is also a tricky situation for the current Rosaiah’s Government. It looks like he’s weighing on different needs and allocating money on priority basis. Surely it’s not possible for him at the moment to take away the funds from different social welfare schemes that the late YSR Reddy started. The recent floods have not done any good to the exchequer of the AP Government. And add to that the recent 9th PRC commission wage revision report that was submitted to the Government on Saturday, 5 December. If the Government decides to implement every recommendation made in the report, it’ll put a deeper hole in the Government’s pocket.
It’s a known fact that the Apsrtc is under losses since few year and it is constantly asking the Government to bail it out, but without any luck till now.
There was a notification to recruit 975 conductors in Apsrtc Hyderabad division but that was a good 9 months ago. Apsrtc, as a rule should buy at least 3000 buses each financial year to cater to the needs of growing passengers. And so, its recruitment needs must also be met to run all those buses.
Although the Government didn’t approve the request of Apsrtc to allow recruitment of 33000 candidates for different positions, the Government has reportedly agreed to conduct a recruitment drive for about 4000 driver and conductor vacancies.
The notification for those posts may be announced soon.
But the Apsrtc management wants the Government to allow to recruit 33000 candidates besides these 4000 vacancies in which approximately 13000 vacancies exist for drivers, 15000 vacancies for conductors and 5000 other vacancies in different departments of Apsrtc.
Update (on December 18): The Government has given permission to conduct recruitment for 4932 vacancies in RTC which comprises of 2404 driver vacancies and 2528 conductor vacancies. Note that this is in addition to the 4934 vacancies that already have permission. So in total 9866 vacancies will be filled in APSRTC with immediate effect.
The notification for the same will be announced shortly. Bookmark this page to see the updates.
