Following the notification on June 19, for the recruitment of 300 Home Guards in Andhra Pradesh, the Home Guards Commandant said that there are another 300 vacancies identified for these positions. The selections for the Home Guard positions will be conducted in phases till July 5, 2010 in Hyderabad.
On 29th June, there were many candidates seen to participate in the selection process. In order to avoid the confusion and simplify the recruitment process, the Commandant General has decided to distribute tokens to each and every candidate who appears for the selections and ask them to turn up when only when its time for their batch.
He also added that they have distributed nearly, 10500 tokens as on June 29, 2010.

As per the Home Guards act, a person can be considered for the selection as a Home Guard, if he is:
Over 20 years of age
Less than 60 years of age
Passed at least 4th primary examination and
Found to be medically fit as deemed by the Commandant General.
Any of the above Qualification may be relaxed for a particular candidates if the Commandant in General wants to.
The Pay Scales for the Home Guards will be different for each state under their own Home Guards Act and will be decided by the Individual State Government.
