It’s been a very long time that I logged into my blogger account since that I’ve shifted to wordpress.
When I did log in, I found a new addition to blogger which is the import/export option.
Login to your blogger account and go to settings and then the basic tab.
The first option you find is the import/export option that I’m talking about.
Just out of curiosity I clicked on the export link to find out how it worked.(PIC).
Its just one click and you’re done. A nice xml format of your entire blog is saved onto your hard disc.
All your posts, comments, and template are saved in that file.
I didn’t test the import option but if you do an import from another blogger blog, first you have to export all your posts and save on your hard disc and then simply use the import feature from your new blog. All your posts from the importing blog will be merging with the posts of imported blog.
And of course the problem here would be that the permalinks of posts will be changing.
This is quite a cool move by Google considering the fact that wordpress had this option since its beginning and it took these many days for blogger to introduce it.
Nevertheless it’s finally here. The next step for blogger would be to have a import feature from other blog types like typepad, aol journal, wordpress etc.
Don’t how long that will take to go live. At least the next time I login to blogger, I wish to see that feature.
