The Price war that was seen in the Telecom sector is slowing finding its way into the Auto Industry. Bajaj, yet again, using its successful Discover brand, has introduced Discover 150cc in the Indian market. However, the Discover 150cc will only be available in the Andhra Pradesh and Punjab market initially.
It was only recently that Bajaj introduced a 100cc version of Discover, which according to reports, is selling 75000 units a month and is quite a success (and not to forget the swap of Bajaj pulsar into 135cc category)
Now by Introducing Bajaj Discover in 150cc segment, Bajaj, on the one hand is risking the sales of its own Pulsar 150 cc (which is still selling like hot cakes by the way) but on the other hand betting high on the success of this Discover primarily due to its extremely aggressive pricing.
Bajaj Discover 150cc is priced at Rs.46000, Ex showroom Delhi
Considering that the low end price of Pulsar 150cc is at least Rs.10000 more than this, Discover 150cc will sure roll the numbers for Bajaj.
Bajaj Discover 150cc looks
Bajaj claims that Discover 150cc retains the sporty look even though the price is largely compromised. But a first look at the bike proves that it’s not. Surely it doesn’t have the muscular body that Pulsar has but looks more like the Discover 135cc, with a slightly larger headlamp. The fuel tank is smaller, the rear wheel is thinner, the back seat isn’t raised at all, the exhaust pipe isn’t raised enough, all of which fail to add that sporty look that a Pulsar or an Apache RTR has in this segment.
Leaving the technical stuff by just looking at it from a distance, one can say that it’s a Discover 135cc, just with an addition of 150cc engine.
Discover 150cc Mileage
Bajaj again claims that it gave a Mileage of 65kmpl during the ARAI testing but those results will almost always be more by at least 5kmpl when it comes to On road conditions. Even then, 60kmpl is an exceptional Mileage for a 150cc bike. Technically, users should feel happy if their 150cc bike is giving a Mileage of about 55kmpl, be it Bajaj, Hero Honda or any other make.
Hi guys i booked 150cc because of superb look and i think good mileage too.. am expecting good mileage at least 55+ in bangalore traffic.. if not i’ll be little worried. Whats your words on these guys.
pls share regarding this..
hey guys, tell me frankly which bike is preferred 4 me, stylish look and better mileage, budget is up to 55,000. plz don’t bluff..
@gautam Scooters is always a bit comfortable than motorcycles. Activa’s seat is flat & wide which is slightly comfortable for the back . The sporty seats in today’s bikes affect the back, especially at long drives.
The wider seats are more comfortable. The Splendor has a flat seat but its not so wide, so its uncomfortable for some people.
Then too, 2 wheelers are not good for the back at all.
Discover 150 is a very good bike in terms of pricing, milege, comfort, pickup, facilities and maintainance.
Hi All this is Ali and the bike that I have is Bajaj Discover 150cc DT-SI is an amazing machine that works for me as a flying machine though I am quite heavy in weight but I can carry my family and me with safe hands as the pickup is good and mileage is also expected within 45-50 KM/PL and the parts are also affordable to buy.
Friends please do not buy doscover150 because it has no pulling, gear struck, knocking sound, bad sounds. in this bike bajaj provides bad servicing.
sad bike … mileage of 45… no where near what company promises n the service centre people don’t know to talk and handle bikes.. why are thy appointed …
hey, guys i have 150cc discover and i am happy with the mileage wat i am getting .. it’s around 58-60….
Over all bike is good but service center is bad, bajaj customer care is very worst
hai bajaj bike (discover 150) is a future of india its good mileage and good red in colour it attract a girls . so this a good bike.
This is one of the bad reviews that I have read. Bad in terms of content. You never realized the segment you are comparing the bike with. Bajaj says it is is a commuter segment bike much like Unicorn, Gladiator, etc.
kbravi Your statement ” yav bike thakondru yavdadru ondu problem erlebayk. so don’t wait for any suggestion just buy it and enjoy your life…”"”
is absolutely CORRECT beyond argument. No man is perfect so is no Bike.
Just go by your instinct, take test ride, look at your requirements and if you feel bike satisfies ..just GO for it.
we will only waste our time thinking power, mileage, looks, resale value etc etc .
Does any bike has ever satisfied anyone in all aspects?
Yes Madhu you are right.
Palak–You need to think about yourself a little bit,Websites are not individual specific
yav bike thakondru yavdadru ondu problem erlebayku …………. so don’t wait for any suggestion just buy it and enjoy your life………….

Guys, The early morning engine raise is not problem, its due to its auto choke function. You should first start by kick in the morning alone. After that there will be no problem. Its a really nice bike. only thing you should read manual before use it. Ram, Chennai
My problem is very similar to karthick and Prabhath’s. I just bought this bike and it’s a week only. When I start my bike in early morning, it doesn’t start with kicker or self start. Need to fight at least 10-15 minutes, then it will start with self start (doesn’t start with kicker). Then it will stops when I am in riding… it’s too ridiculous and am very frustrating…
Can any one help me please…….. chaser2000 at gmail.com
My problem is little similar to karthick’s. I have done 500km on sri lankan roads with my discover150. I’m aware of auto choke feature. But why engine stops as soon as i start it in morning?

Hey Vickey, i am also facing the same problem u got any solution for that.. i just buy this bike b4 one week,
In this bike there is a additional feature of auto choke system. in morning the will automatically raise. we have to wait until it come to normal condition and drive slowly in city and 50-60 km/hr in bypass then you will get good mileage. i getting 65/lr as mileage
I have a discover 150 cc. it has done a little over 1000 Kms. In Bangalore city traffic/highway it is giving an average of 52 km pl. the acceleration is good on the third gear which helps cruise past slow vehicles against oncoming traffic.
Pros: good price:
Nice mileage
Gives good control to cut through traffic
Cons: I feel the breaking should or the tire grip has to be improved.
hey guys, tell me frankly which bike is preferd 4 me, stylish luk and better mileage, budget is up to 55,000. plz dnt bluff..
CBZ xtrem Milage is 50kmpl nd price -56000/-
CBZ extreme on road price is 69ooo rupees
discover 150 rocks… no probs til now.. bought few weeks b4… mileage around 55 – 60… but vibrates lil after 60..
Bajaj has to really work on its narrow seating and suspension
i have something to share about this bike Discover 150/100 cc .Its and ok bike compared to 150cc pulsar ,i had pulsar 150. But in discover 150cc pick up is not like pulsar and the worst thing is the seating it sucks very narrow and you feel like you are sitting on a rock. Mileage is around 50 to 55 kmpl
I sold my pulsar 150 in jan2010 because i had back ache when i used to drive it. I used it for 7 years . Then i bought activa for my wife believe me i drived it for 2 months never had a back ache complaint One fine day i saw bajaj 150cc discover was launched i purched it on june 2010 for myself then onwards i am again having back ache .The seating in honda bikes is much better compared to Bajaj.
I have driven xcd125 and i could feel its seating and suspension is much better compared to discover 150 or 100 cc. Because of its seating I am not happy with my bike.
sir,I want to purchase his bike on diwali so pls inform me it’s facilities
it is good that you have launched discover 150cc.
Can i know the practical mileage of this vehicle in city traffic??planning to take this bike
Hi,
This is one of the bad reviews that I have read. Bad in terms of content. You never realized the segment you are comparing the bike with. Bajaj says it is is a commuter segment bike much like Unicorn, Gladiator, etc.
Those were initial thoughts but not a ‘review’
