The last time that you saw a 100cc bike from Bajaj should be the Platina 100, the Jhalak Dikhlaja one. It’s been a long time since it introduced Platina after which there were bikes in the 125cc and 135 cc categories with models like XCD 125 and XCD 135 and Discover 135. Bajaj has also introduced the Fastest Indian, Pulsar 220cc.
When the world is moving higher in terms of ‘cc’ like you saw a series of 150cc bikes from Hero Honda CBZ Extreme and Hunk, Apache RTR 160 and now 180 from TVS, upcoming CBR from Honda, what could have made Bajaj go back and make one of those 100cc bikes?
Bajaj has recently announced that it is ‘re-discovering’ the Successful brand of Discover by introducing Discover 100cc. It plans to introduce it on 27th of July for which the manufacturing process will begin soon.
We all know that the countries largest and in fact the world’s largest 2 wheeler producer Hero Honda gains a maximum of its revenue from its 100cc Bikes it self. Previously it was the Splendor, delivering the goods to Hero Honda and now Passion Pro has taken over from it.
If you have been watching the Television or reading some magazines/news papers you might have observed the huge promotion Bajaj is giving to its new product, the Pulsar 220. But it looks as though it isn’t expecting a great deal from the product except some biking fanatics going to taste the new Pulsar breed.
And hence a new Discover 100 might be the one that will keep them close to Hero Honda in Product selling numbers.
Since there is already a 100cc Bike Platina in the Bajaj brand which is priced around Rs.35000 it remains to be seen if it continues to run the Platina brand or run both of them side by side. The new Discover may be priced slightly above the Platina’s price tactically making sure that if they run both of them side by side, they’ll hold on their potential new Platina customer’s while leveraging on the successful Discover brand.
As the specifications for the current 100cc model Platina goes, it is a 99.27cc four stroke engine delivering a maximum torque of 8.05 N-m at 4500 rpm and a maximum power of 8.2bhp at 7500 rpm.
It also remains to be seen if it uses the same technology for the new Bajaj Discover DTS -Si 100 cc.

Too many variables to consider here. But, If you are working and can spend Rs.1/km, that comes out as Rs.70 a day or say Rs.2200 at max in a month for fuel charges, then Apache RTR 160 should be good.

I bought Discover DTSi 100 cc for Rs.46000 in Erode (TN), completed first free service and reached >1200 kms. I am riding at the speed between 50- 55 kmph with good road conditions. But mileage is only between 65-70 kmpl. I am not happy with mileage ….

If you can afford XCD 135, you sure can go for it. Discover 100 is for those who want’s similar riding experience but slightly at a lower price
Presently, I am using Splendor, which is a reliable bike, but I am in search of more fuel efficient and reliable bike to up down high way. Is the new Bajaj Discover 100 CC DTS SI is more competent and reliable as advertised. Further this model also have self start option or not.

There should be no doubt about the reliability of this bike but what you must be sure is that, you are not going to get that mileage of 100+ that Bajaj claimed for Discover 100cc. It will be between 65 to 80 depending on conditions.

I like and use your BAJAJ products vehicles as First kawasaki, and then Bajaj CT100, Pulsar 150cc, Now I purchased Discover 100CC. all these models Discover 100cc is excellent and petrol economy model. of course alike also 135cc, but both sides of tank ears are not beautifull. anyway your products are good, economy.
