CNN IBN App for Mobiles

Follower of CNN IBN for English News? Now you can get your latest dose of Network 18 news (see CNBC TV18 Money Control App) on your mobile phone. The CNN IBN App is available for download on all 4 major platforms, iPhone, Android, Nokia and Blackberry.

There are other Indian News Apps out there but so far, CNN IBN App is the best of the lot. The home page displays the latest news from different categories (Sports, Entertainment, Politics etc) while more deeper news articles can be read by heading to the ‘Sections’ panel. The home page can be even customized to have the news from only those categories that you care to read. And if you are an avid ‘social sharer’ you can do that too, via Facebook and Twitter.

Apart from text, the App also has Photo galleries and Videos from recent news. If you care less seeing old videos, you can catch what happening live with live streaming of CNN IBN Channel from with in the app too. The video quality, though, is very ugly. And obviously you need to be on 3G or Wifi to watch the stream, else, it stutters more and utters less. Recent version of the app also added live stream for IBN Awaaz and IBN 7 Hindi channels.

As far as the loading of app with text news, it is pretty fast. Even the images in the news articles load quickly on a 2G network.

Negatives: Occasionally, something happens to few articles and the App asks you to ‘Connect to the Internet and try again’ although you are connected to the Internet.
